CYRUS GENEVE PRESENTS THE NEW LIMITED EDITION “KLEPCYS VERTICAL SKELETON TOURBILLON MALACHITE”.

13 dicembre 2024

First launched in 2018 with a solid dial, followed in 2019 by a skeletonized version and later also with a stunning sapphire crystal case to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary, in 2024 Cyrus Genève expands the Klepcys Vertical Tourbillon collection with the introduction of the KLEPCYS VERTICAL SKELETON TOURBILLON MALACHITE in a limited edition of only 2 pieces.

A masterpiece of time for very few true connoisseurs!

Jean-François Mojon, talented master watchmaker and technical director of the Manufacture based in Le Locle (Switzerland), is the creative mind behind all Cyrus Genève timepieces.  This latest horological marvel renews the magic of the Vertical Tourbillon complication, combined with an unprecedented colour interpretation that further enhances the exceptionally innovative mechanism that drives the watch. This has been achieved by using malachite, a natural gemstone whose veins of varying colours give it a brilliant green colour.

The tourbillon cage, the undisputed star of this timepice,  which Cyrus Genève places in the centre of the dial, is set on a vertical axis at a 90° angle. Painstaking studies by our technical team revealed that this angle ensures the tourbillon cage is almost always in vertical position when on the wrist, thereby optimising its performance in precision.

All this beauty is housed in a cushion-shaped 4N 18-carat rose gold case with a diameter of 44mm, excluding the two crowns at 3 and 9, a signature feature of Cyrus watches. The former adjusts the time and winds the movement, while a pressure on the pusher of the latter allows quick time correction.

The new Klepcys Vertical Skeleton Tourbillon Malachite, with its impressive and refined aesthetics, allows Haute Horlogerie connoisseurs to immerse themselves in the heart of the movement and enjoy the “dance” of its components while reading the retrograde time. Each element of the mechanism has been finely finished and decorated, transforming it into an exquisite work of animated art.

All elements that make up the display are positioned for perfect design symmetry and integrated into Cyrus’ traditional three-dimensional architecture to provide additional depth.

The arched vertical bridge, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s self-supporting bridge, decorated using the “microbillage” technique features bevelled, polished edges and frames the tourbillon cage which performs one full rotation in one minute. It harmoniously divides the dial into two equal parts, making it easier to read off the retrograde hours and minutes. This unique 3D structure is protected by a custom-made, domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal with a thickness of 1.2 mm.

The retrograde hours on the left and the retrograde sweeping minutes on the right are marked by Arabic numerals on arches set with malachite gemstone refined with a golden frame. The seconds can be read off the tourbillon cage thanks to small numbered blocks, with the 60 seconds highlighted in red.

At 12 o’clock an eye-catching 5 mm microbeaded black DLC sphere indicates the 4-day power reserve. The CYRUS logo at 6 o’clock provides stylistic harmony.

A closer look at the dial reveals the tourbillon cage, the watch’s signature element, as if it were floating gracefully on a stage, where it interacts with a choreography of wheels, gears and hands that move in unison.

The upper part of the skeleton dial reveals two rhodium-plated barrels, decorated with the typical engraved triangular motifs we recognize in many Cyrus models. The bridges are microbeaded with a dark grey NAC galvanic treatment, and the edges are bevelled and polished. The levers of the retrograde system are satin-polished and rhodium plated. The wheels are rhodium-plated and decorated with cerclage, the cams are mirror-polished. The jewels give a touch of colour to the finished item. Nothing has been left to chance!

Every component of the hand-winding manufacture movement, calibre CYR625, with a double barrel offering more than a 100-hour power reserve, has been painstakingly decorated to give this creation a sophisticated allure.

The “beating heart” of the Klepcys Vertical Skeleton Tourbillon Malachite is also visible on the case back. It reveals the mastery of the craftsmen at Cyrus. The grey bridges, obtained by NAC galvanic treatment, are decorated with a slightly curved sunray pattern and have a microbeaded satin finish contrasting with the polished edges. The two parallel barrels are fitted with black lacquered ratchet-wheels  bearing the Cyrus signature propeller-like logo. The exclusive screw heads are mirror-polished.

The Klepcys Vertical Skeleton Tourbillon Malachite is a two-piece limited edition that comes on a green alligator leather strap and is secured to the wrist with a personalised folding clasp in 4N 18K gold.
